* word onsite refers to Bristol, UK.
History of Mystery:
I'm a pessimistic person even then I do believe that one day I will surely be going to onsite by the grace of God.
My hope of going to onsite was deminishing as I was moved into a new technology (where lots of people were waiting for the same opportunity). I was frustrated as time started to pass and when our batch didn't get promoted after 18 months, I thought of quitting the company, but hoped God will surely give me a chance (Mera number sarure ayega).
All of a sudden I got promoted and was moved back to my old technology. We heard the news that there is some opening coming up in my technology, but sadly they sent a person from a different technology. But there was a new hope coming up saying "one person is going to come back and he needs a replacement".
News of going to Bristol:
One day my PM called for a meeting to talk about my travel just 4 days before my travel, I was confused as I was not prepared for it (Buying things....). Again my PM called for a bad news stating it is been cancelled, as like a wind it came and went off.
Next week they said I will be flying the following weekend. This time I didn't publicize (You know the reason), mostly because my roommates travel was cancelled the day before his journey for some reason. At last they confirmed that I will be travelling either on 08-Mar or 09-Mar, I received the Gulf air-ticket (booked on 09-Mar) long with other documents.
One of my life's major dreams started to become reality.
A dream come true:
Finally the d-day came. I had my tickets, knew about the weather there, knew what exactly I should be doing at airport, and had all my clothing to face the dreaded cold weather there. It was time to go to a place where I knew no one...all alone. I got to the airport exactly 3 hrs earlier and then got on to the plane and off I flew waving by family members.............
First Time Flying Experience:
Here we go..... I was taken inside the terminal-1 after the emigration check into the flight. Air host welcomed me inside saying "Good morning, welcome to Gulf Airways".
When I first saw inside of flight it looked like "Rajahamsa" bus from the inside, only difference was it was bit long and three seats on each side. I was amazed to find a seat next to window and next 2 side seats to be vacant.
I heard the prayer in Arabic started to get announced then in Hindi & English. They started to give demonstration of wearing safety belts and life saving jackets. I could clearly see the right wing on the window, the plane started to move to a distance, the top of the wing was covered with air breaks, which I could see coming up whenever they used to apply break. Outside I saw the sun rising up, I prayed for the safe journey.
Then the plane started to move gradually picking up speed, all of a sudden I felt too much accelerated, something pulling me back with huge force (More like you are been seated in some wheel chair and you been pushed from the back with great force). Then I felt my ears getting blocked (As like we have cold), the ground started to move far. This experience continued for 2 min, I could see the city from the top as like we have seen in google earth.
Now the plane took a bent curve to adjust to its direction, I felt as though I was in some curved giant wheel. I looked down to see some mountains. In journey I used to feel some jerk as like a bus whenever the wing used to flap little bit.
Breakfast:
Uppma+thick curd+Vada+cabage sealed in aluminium foil together with Apple juice (drink of our choice) + tea
This was like the breakfast which is served in the "Shatabdhi" train.
Amazing to find they were not serving any hot drinks (As most of them told they serve).
Lunch:
Uppma+cabage+Chicken +fruit salad+apple juice+small cake
Entertainment:
Flight-1: Radio -- Next to the seat I found socket to plug-in the headset, there were 13 radio channels among them 13th was the only Arabic language channel and rest were either English or Hindi.
Flight-2: Video -- Next to my lap found an LCD which can be tuned with the remote to get either TV channels of 14 or radio channel as in flight-1. At the back of remote was phone which can be operated with an credit card.
Wonders:
- I saw the seasons in a day (The frozen ocean, dry land (Bahrain) & Green Land)
- Sun did not set (As I started my journey at 6:00AM IST and reached London Heathrow by 10:00PM IST, at London it was 5 past 5 and I could see the Sun which didn't set for me)
- Amazing Island covered with green ocean (Island near Bahrain, check my photos), mountains.
- I saw huge landscape of desert (Lasted for 4 hrs of my journey). I wondered why couldn't we use this land with the help of technology.
- Believe it or not I saw dolphins when the plane was landing on the coast of Bahrain. Even I saw ships moving around and an oil extraction plant.
- Flying at a speed of 85o km/hr, with the information of where we are currently located in LCD monitor, time reaching (accuracy) was amazing.
- How amazing God has created the earth and the beauty in it.
